Don't Blink

Harkins, Heather, (film director.). Verrall, David, (film producer.). Fukushima, Michael, (film producer.). National Film Board of Canada (Montreal), (film producer.).

Summary: Combining stop-motion puppet and drawn animation, Don't Blink observes a young woman, somewhat forlorn on a Halifax dock, whose loneliness is lifted by the passing of an otherworldly fishing trawler. A metaphor on the connectedness of water, and water's capacity as a medium of freedom. This animated short was made for Hothouse 1, the NFB's program for emerging filmmakers, whose central theme was "Water and Our Relationship to It.".
