Summary: 1976. Les habitants d'une réserve indienne subissent quotidiennement les abus des agents du gouvernement canadien. Une répression qui affecte également les plus jeunes, que l'on tente d'endoctriner en les obligeant à fréquenter l'école catholique. Lorsque son père revient dans la région après un séjour de sept ans derrière les barreaux, la jeune Aila est soudainement confrontée à une foule de mauvais souvenirs, dont la mort de sa mère dans des circonstances pour le moins tragiques. Croyant que ces années de misère ont assez duré, Aila imagine un plan pour se venger de la figure dominante du régime imposé.
