The other half Mirror image

Summary: Part 1: The eye of the camera focuses on social conditions as Victorian photographers dramatized the plight of the sick and the poor to the point of being accused of "artistic fiction". They documented the suffering and bleakness of the impoverished inner city of the 1850's. Part 2: Reveals the early days of portait photography when people eagerly flocked to photo studios for images of themselves and their families - a privilege previously reserved for the rich who could afford to be painted. Featured portaits of Alfred Lord Tennyson, Longfellow, Darwin, Berlioz, Sarah Bernhardt, and Lewis Carroll's portrait of the girl who became Alice in Wonderland.
